Jednokanałowe kodery 3G/HD/SD MPEG-4 9223-S to oparte na kartach rozwiązanie do dystrybucji kodowania MPEG-4. Wykorzystując platformę o otwartej architekturze openGear®, model 9223-S oferuje skalowalną integrację oraz łatwy w obsłudze interfejs operatora DashBoard™ do konfiguracji i sterowania. W obudowie z 20 gniazdami można zainstalować do 10 kart 9223, co zapewnia dystrybucję do 10 kanałów w jednej obudowie, zużywając łącznie mniej niż 150 W, co zmniejsza koszty operacyjne. Oprócz wejść SD/HD-SDI, model 9223-S zapewnia elastyczność obsługi analogowego kompozytowego wideo SD i analogowej pary audio stereo na kanał wejściowy (standardowo przy użyciu kodowania audio MPEG-1 Layer II).

Model 9223-S oferuje najnowsze osiągnięcia w dziedzinie kompresji wideo, które zapewniają doskonałą jakość wideo przy bardzo niskich przepływnościach. Unikalne projekty kodowania umożliwiają jednoczesne dostarczanie wielu usług wideo HD i SD. Oprócz wyjść ASI, 9223 zapewnia wyjścia Ethernet, obsługujące pracę w trybie pełnego dupleksu 100 Mb/s i 1 Gb/s. Tryb automatycznego wykrywania wejściowego wideo umożliwia kodowanie w celu automatycznej konfiguracji wyjścia odpowiadającego wejściu, z rozdzielczością i szybkością klatek taką samą jak wejście oraz skalowaniem ustawionym na to samo, co wejście lub innymi odpowiednimi opcjami.

Podczas korzystania z wyjścia Ethernet model 9223-S obsługuje tradycyjne protokoły UDP/RTP/SPMTE 2022 FEC, a także protokół HTTP Live Streaming do transmisji wideo na żywo przez Internet. Korzystając z HTTP Live Streaming, 9223-S może przesyłać wideo o jakości telewizyjnej do telefonów komórkowych (obsługiwanych przez Apple i Android 4.0), tabletów i różnych dekoderów konsumenckich (takich jak Amino A140 i Roku Player).

Obsługa protokołu RTMP umożliwia bezpośrednie publikowanie treści na żywo w czasie rzeczywistym na serwerach Adobe® Media Servers lub innych serwerach, witrynach internetowych i sieciach CDN z wejściem RTMP, takich jak Justin.tv, UStream, LiveStream i Akamai. Publikowanie profesjonalnej jakości treści SD/HD w czasie rzeczywistym dla przeglądarek internetowych (w tym niektóre krytyczne funkcje niedostępne w koderach programowych na komputery PC), takie jak obsługa danych pomocniczych (napisy kodowane, AFD) i wejścia wideo SD-SDI/HD-SDI z wbudowanym wsparciem audio – wszystko w jakości wideo klasy telewizyjnej. Przetwarzanie SMPTE-2038 umożliwia wstawianie ogólnych pakietów danych pomocniczych do strumienia transportowego z dokładnością do ramki. Obsługiwane mogą być do czterech par DID/SDID.
